Doctors Who Sell: How Dr. Seun Jones is Helping Black Women Physicians Own Their Finances

Selling as a doctor shouldn’t feel out of pocket.
But for many of us,especially Black women in medicine,it does.

We’re taught to serve, to sacrifice, to survive. Not to sell. Not to market ourselves. Not to build wealth boldly and unapologetically.

But what if selling your expertise was actually a gateway to freedom?

In this episode of The Docs Get Money Podcast, I sat down with Dr. Seun Adeyemi-Jones—physician, financial educator, and founder of Fly Girl Finance—to talk about what it really looks like when doctors step into sales with purpose and power.

Dr. Seun is one of my incredible clients inside IGNITE, and she’s out here building a business that’s as bold as it is brilliant. From the challenges of being a Black woman in medicine to building financial literacy and confidence through entrepreneurship, this episode is packed with gems.

Let’s talk about why it’s time for doctors, especially Black women doctors—to learn how to sell.

Why We Don’t Learn Sales in Medicine

Medicine teaches a lot of things. Sales isn’t one of them.

But if you’re building a business—whether it’s coaching, consulting, or something else entirely—you’ve got to learn how to sell. Not just for the money, but for the impact.

Dr. Seun shared how difficult it was at first to put herself out there, to talk about money, to ask people to pay her. And I see that so often with the doctors I coach. We’re not taught to think like entrepreneurs. But that doesn’t mean we can’t learn.

Sales isn’t manipulation. It’s communication.
It’s alignment.
It’s service.

And when you start treating it that way, everything shifts.

The Shift from Perfection to Progress

One of my favorite parts of our convo? When Dr. Seun talked about unlearning the need to be perfect.

As doctors, we’re trained to get it right. No mistakes. No room for error. But in business, that mindset will hold you back.

Dr. Seun’s story is a powerful reminder that you don’t need a perfect funnel or flawless script to be successful. You need the willingness to try, to fail, and to keep showing up.

Perfection isn’t the goal—progress is.

Why More Black Women Physicians Need to Sell

There’s a deeper reason this conversation matters: representation.

When Black women physicians like Dr. Seun step into entrepreneurship, start making money moves, and normalize talking about wealth—we create ripple effects. We break cycles. We make room for more of us to win.

If you’ve ever felt like selling wasn’t for you…
If you’ve been hiding your gifts because you weren’t sure how to “package” them…
If you’ve been waiting for permission to go all-in on your business…

This episode is your sign.
