Changing the Cycle: Dr. Charis Chambers on Reproductive Truth & Showing Up Unapologetically
What If Your Truth Was the Most Valuable Thing You Had?
So many of us were taught that success in medicine meant silence.
Be professional. Be palatable. Be small.
But Dr. Charis Chambers is flipping that all the way on its head.
This week on The Docs Get Money Podcast, I sat down with The Period Doctor herself—OB/GYN, pediatric and adolescent gynecology specialist, educator, coach, and unapologetic voice in the fight for truth in reproductive health.
We talked about the journey that brought her here—from her days as a Spelman student to Baylor med school to fellowship training in adolescent gynecology. But it wasn’t just about medicine. It was about ministry, mission, and voice.
Because Dr. Charis didn’t stop at the clinic. She took her purpose online, built a platform rooted in honesty and education, and started showing up for the people who needed her most: Black girls and women who had never heard the truth about their bodies spoken plainly, lovingly, and without shame.
From Misinformation to Empowerment
Dr. Charis launched The Period Doctor because she saw a gap—and decided to fill it. Too many women in our communities are learning about puberty and reproductive health through fear, silence, and confusion. She’s made it her mission to change that by creating content, speaking, coaching, and soon—publishing a book that helps parents teach puberty with both science and faith.
We talked about what it means to hold space for patients navigating menstruation, gender identity, and disorders of sexual development… and how being both compassionate and clinical is part of her unique gift.
She’s doing it all with boundaries, joy, and intentionality.
Building a Brand Without Losing Yourself
There’s a way to show up online that doesn’t require performance.
There’s a way to monetize your mission that doesn’t drain your soul.
There’s a way to educate, serve, and shine—without shrinking who you are.
Dr. Charis is living proof.
In this conversation, we explore how she built ReclamationRx, a coaching practice that helps healthcare professionals step into their online voice. We talk about what happens when you stop waiting for permission and start using your platform on purpose. And we unpack the tension of being a woman of faith building something public—and profitable.
This Episode Is for You If…
You’ve ever felt called to do more than clinical work.
You’re afraid of being too visible, too honest, too “out there.”
You’ve struggled to blend your faith, your passion, and your platform.
You’re sitting on a story that’s begging to be told.
